As followers of Christ, we are called to be servants of one another (Galatians 5:13, 1 Peter 4:10). And where the people of God respond to meet the needs of others around them, the church thrives.
Paloma has a diversity of needs, needs that are always surfacing and evolving, and we depend on our volunteers. Volunteers lead groups, take out trash, counsel hurting people, change diapers, make videos, play music, edit documents, clean bathrooms…the list is endless. Some people find opportunities to serve in ways that align with their gifts. Others simply respond to a need that they see (taking out the trash isn’t a spiritual gift but someone needs to do it). Some volunteering requires a long-term commitment, like Children’s Ministry. Some are temporary, like giving a ride home. All of it is important.
Sometimes the greatest way to bless others is to simply give your time to serve them. Sometimes the strongest community is built among those who serve shoulder to shoulder together. We encourage you to find a way to serve within your congregation and we’ve listed some opportunities to do so below.
Paloma Stories – Use your gifts in the areas of photography, videography and journalism to document Paloma Life as it occurs through events that take place on campus as well as in the community. Note that this team may serve on days other than Sundays, as needed for events.
Guest Services – Greet people, help guests find a seat, provide information, or serve refreshments on Sunday – anything to create a friendly environment.
Production – Help with running sound, operating PowerPoint and other technical equipment on Sunday. No previous experience required.
Paloma Kids (birth – 6th grade) – Invest in the lives of children by serving, caring, leading a small group, or teaching. Specific roles vary by kids’ ages and your experience level. Training and support provided.
Sunday Prayer Team – Pray for and with people after the Sunday worship gathering.
Music & Worship – Use your talents in music and voice to lead the congregation during Sunday services.
Meals Ministry – Be “on call” to provide meals for people going through adversity or transition. This serves people inside and outside our church.
Paloma Students (6th – 12th grade) – Mentor Junior High and High School students by investing relationally in them on Wednesday nights and throughout the week.
Sign Team – Help spread the word about our ministry by setting up and tearing down A-frame signs in the community.
The Crew – Prepare the church facility for events during the week and re-set it for Sunday services. Team members are notified as events are scheduled and serve as they are able. Come serve alongside those who help make it happen at our church.
The Planners – Serve behind the scenes in the office providing general support. Assist in planning and hosting a variety of special events, classes and meetings; both at the Paloma campus and in the community.
